LAURA’S SONG
I hung up the phone full of dismay heard the tragic news that a friend and colleague passed away What can I say … What can I say??? It’s sad but true and there is nothing I can do Laura’s death reminds me how precious life can truly be She lost the battle but won the war Gave birth to a baby boy a few weeks before A beautiful woman, a loving wife A caring teacher and friend and a mother of three bundles of joy They’ll only have memories of mom that are shared with them through stories, pictures and poems I sing this song now that she’s gone so her memory, her memory lives on The day before Laura passed away She wrote these words on a page: Opera transforms us from the mundane transfigures us from the ordinary. Nowhere can you find such gorgeous redemption beauty in tragedy joy in sorrow. Her words live on even though she’s gone her words live on when I sing this song And I celebrate the beauty and joy that continue on through her two young children and her newborn boy Her words live on even though she’s gone beauty and joy continue on And I think of her when I sing this song her memory her memory lives on |
