Mark Tonin is a father, teacher, singer-songwriter, music producer, bass & guitar player, performer, promoter and music lover based out of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Tonin has actively supported and promoted Canadian jam music for the past 30 years. He’s played bass with a number of bands, most recently with Wolfmoon Tide, and also with his own band, Chris Mulligan Band, Harvard Mouse, and Opera Blue. From 2015 until 2019, he played guitar, sang songs and jammed with Ricky Neu (drums), Dave Voigt (bass, vocals), and Chris Mulligan (guitar, vocals) as part of Neutones.

From 2010 until 2015, with the support of the Waterloo Region Arts Fund, Tonin worked on a documentary film with artist and filmmaker Robert Waldeck. The film, entitled Jamland,
explores a grassroots music festival and delves into the lives of some of the people involved. It’s a film about music, life, and love, and the way music can take us out of our day-to-day problems and make us feel better. Jamland was conceived in 2006 when Tonin and his Harvard Mouse band-mates visited a 90-acre piece of land owned by their mutual friend. In 2007, they built a stage in the middle of the forest, and since then, the land and stage have become a gathering point for friends to enjoy live music.

Tonin is resurrecting a name from the past and is calling his latest music project Mark Tonin's Music Vortex. The Vortex is starting to spin and will be whirling and twirling as we head to the year 2026.
